This month we’re focusing on boundaries, a topic near and dear to my heart and mind. Boundaries help keep physicians functioning at our best by creating the space we need between ourselves and other people, events, and things. This space can also help prevent burnout. Addressing Burnout in the Time of Covid
I’m hearing from my physician coaching clients that they are beyond exhausted by this pandemic. They experience judgment toward people who won’t get the vaccine. They are frustrated and angry with the situation. And then they feel guilt and/or shame for feeling this way.
What You Need is Internal Autonomy
We think we need external autonomy, and control of our surroundings and activities (and other people) in order to be happy, but what if awakening internal autonomy is all we need to shift to a more positive mental and emotional state?
Find Your New Path
The one thing I never worried about as a practicing physician, and I worried about a lot of things, was security. I was attracted to medicine for its goal of helping people, for the scientific exploration and foundation. But I also appreciated the sense of security. Doctors would always have jobs.
